BPK RI once again hosted the Intosai Working Group on Environmental Audit (WGEA) International Training On Forestry Audit on 16 – 20 September 2019 at the PKN Badiklat, Kalibata, Jakarta. The opening of the training was carried out directly by the Chairman of BPK RI, Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara and was attended by structural officials from the BPK RI and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. In his opening remarks, the Chairperson of BPK RI revealed the important role of forests and human civilization, and this is in line with The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Number 15 which is directly related to human impacts on forests.
Through this activity, the Chairperson of BPK RI hopes that it can become an arena for the development and implementation of sustainable forest management policies. Sustainable forest management provides optimal benefits in supporting economic growth and community welfare. Forest conservation is threatened with serious damage due to community economic activities. BPK RI has an important role in forest management through forestry performance inspections. This will have consequences for the need for better environmental management and management in Indonesia.
The Chairman of BPK RI also said that the participation of the participants in this training would strengthen each SAI in INTOSAI WGEA. In addition, this activity is also expected to contribute to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal Number 17 regarding collaboration and result in personal and professional improvement. Overall, this forestry inspection program has been successful in all respects and in generating overall resilience in environmental management.
The Head of the BPK RI Education and Training Agency, Hery Subowo, reported that the forestry inspection training with the theme Social Forestry was attended by 13 participants from eleven countries: Brunei Darussalam, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Solomon Islands, Sudan, Nepal, Cameroon, Thailand, Kenya, Lao PDR. and the European Court of Auditor as well as 14 participants from Indonesia as the host. This is the last training organized by BPK RI, after winning the trust of INTOSAI WGEA six times in a row to host the training. The BPK RI PKN Badiklat also invited four people from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the BPK RI internal examiner to participate in this training. The learning method is divided into two stages, namely on-class and off-class. In the off-class stage, the participants will visit Mount Pancar, Bogor, West Java. They will directly practice the use of geo-spatial technology (remote sensing, Geographic Information System/GIS, and Global Positioning System/ GPS) in the collection and analysis of audit evidence.
