JAKARTA, BPK Public Relations – BPK RI Chairman Agung Firman Sampurna officially opened the International Training on Auditing SDGs on the Topic of Climate Action online on Friday (6/8). This international training, which is being held for the first time by State Financial Audit Bali Training Center, is being followed by 35 participants from Nine Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI), which are The Phillipines, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Uganda, Zambia, Fiji, Maldives, and Indonesia.
In his speech, the BPK Chairman conveyed the importance of the role of SAI in implementing the 2030 Agenda as an external oversight body, especially related to climate action. In addition, the BPK Chairman also emphasized the role of SAI in catalyzing the success of climate action through recommendations that can improve cross-sectoral coordination and policy coherence.
On the same occasion, the Secretary General of the INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) from Finland’s SAI Vivi Niemenmaa, in her speech expressed her appreciation to BPK for being willing to host this international training activity. Niemenmaa also enthusiastically conveyed several things related to the importance of the topic of Climate Action for auditors, including in the context of implementing the 2030 Agenda.
Previously, on the same occasion, Interim Head of The State Finance Audit Education and Training Agency (Badiklat PKN), Ida Sundari, in her report also stated that the purpose of this training was to develop the capacity of auditors globally, related to the examination of SDGs. On this occasion, The Interim Head of Badiklat PKN expressed its appreciation to all parties, including the participants, instructors, the United States SAI, and the Bali Education and Training Center who acted as hosts for this training.
This training activity has actually been carried out since Monday (2/8) with an asynchronous mechanism, where all participants independently study the material that has been uploaded to the BPK Learning Management System. The training activities will be carried out simultaneously starting Friday (6/8) for six days. The instructors in this international training were sourced entirely internally from BPK, except on the last day which presented speakers from the United States SAI on the topic of Climate Finance (ipas).
